In short, we met in an MSN chat room in June, 1997. Over time we became more than good friends, but we didn't admit it until November of '98 when Bev called me, we talked, and the rest is history.

In December '98, we met in real life in Santa Rosa, CA and spent two weeks together. Pretty soon, we started making arrangements for Bev to move from Washington to Long Island. We took off in March 1999 for our week long road trip. It took us about 35 hours to drive the 2,700 miles, and we had a great time. Visit our Cross Country Page

We got married at our village hall on Friday, November 25, 2005, the day after Thanksgiving. Visit our wedding page.

Bev and I moved back to Spokane, WA in March of 2014. We live in a small 2 bedroom apartment on a ranch, and are living a wonderful, quiet life.

Steve (kinoini)

My name is Steve, though my online name was kinoini. Kinoini is my name in Hawaiian and I used it the first time I signed up for an Internet account, and well, it's stuck. And, I like it.

I was born and raised on (or is that in?) Long Island, NY. LI used to be a great place to live, but it got way too crowded and expensive. I went to Long Island University (C.W. Post Campus, School of Professional Accountancy), and earned a Bachelors Degree in Accounting. I later acquired my CPA license, though it's inactive and I never practiced. I'm old enough to know better, young enough to still try. I'd like to think I'm not shy but, unfortunately I am. My son graduated from university a few years back, and he's now got a job designing and building lasers. I'm not kidding. We talk on the phone and Skype often and that goes something like: "What's goin' on? Nothing...how about you? Nothing." Like that. I love him and I'm so proud of him!!

....A long time ago, I created a character, kinoini, in an ongoing interactive story that existed only in the minds of its tellers. Somehow, I became him, or he me. Or maybe, I was always him. I will, one day, re-tell the tale of kinoini. One day.

Bev

Bev was born in Libya, (really she was), and spent quite a few years of her childhood in Spain. She speaks fluent Spanish. Though she denies it, I've heard her speak it. Bev came back to the States as a young girl, and has lived pretty much everywhere people live on earth. She started a career in television news in Bakersfield, CA, and had a brief break in that career when she worked for Merrill Lynch, in Albuquerque, NM for a few years. She finally settled in Spokane, WA, and was an anchor for KHQ - Q6 News, the NBC affiliate, until she moved with me to NY.

Bev took a job working for Prudential Securities in NY for a little over a year. She just didn't feel challenged enough by it, so she started working as an executive assistant and public relations person for a published author and real estate developer, Don Axinn. In fact, one of his books was made into the independant film, Spin. Bev worked extensively behind the scenes during the making of that film, and her name is in the credits. That was a fun, and interesting experience. It was probably more fun for me than for Bev...she was working, I was watching a movie "grow-up" right before my eyes. We used to get the "dailies" and try to figure out how they would cut the final film. Cool stuff. We got to go to a few openings, and meet a few stars.

Now that we're back in Spokane, Bev is working at Edward Jones.

But that's her work history. That's what she does, not who she is. Bev is the love of my life, and the person whom I have the honor of calling my wife. I met Bev at a time in my life when I believed I'd never find love. It was kind of a crazy time, and I was kind of a wild guy. I had resigned myself to live alone. But then I met Bev, and all that changed. She is an amazing person, who, doesn't give herself credit for the depth, strength and beauty of her character and soul. She doesn't see it, but I do. And it's why I love her. She quieted my soul. She has stood by me through times so difficult and dark that they cannot be described. She amazes me. I love her.
